Create Instagram Posts With Photos and Videos in One Carousel

Combine photos and videos in one Instagram carousel, arrange the order, and publish or schedule from PromoRepublic.

Mixed Media Publishing lets you combine photos and videos in a single Instagram carousel, arrange them in the order you want, and publish immediately or schedule the post for later.

📌 Availability
Mixed media is currently supported for regular Instagram Business feed posts. It is not supported for Instagram Stories, Instagram Reels, Send to Mobile posts, or other social networks.

✅ Before You Start

  • An Instagram Business account is connected to the selected location.

  • You are creating a regular Instagram feed post.

  • Your carousel contains between 2 and 10 media items.

  • Every photo and video meets Instagram's media requirements.

🎬 Create a Mixed Media Carousel

  1. Go to Publishing and select Create post.

  2. Select the location and its Instagram Business page.

  3. Add your caption and any other post details.

  4. Upload your first photo or video.

  5. Select Add media to upload more photos or videos. You can combine both formats in the same post.

  6. Review the media tiles below the post preview.

  7. Drag and drop the tiles to arrange them. The order shown in the editor is used in the published Instagram carousel.

  8. To remove an item, select the delete option on its media tile.

  9. If needed, open an individual media item to edit the photo or review the video's details or thumbnail.

  10. Select Publish now or choose a date and time to schedule the post.

⏳ Processing time
Videos may need time to process after upload. PromoRepublic waits until all photos and videos are ready before publishing the post.

📣 Use Mixed Media in a Campaign

Franchisors and brand teams can add an ordered mix of photos and videos to a social post task in Campaigns, making the content available to participating locations.

  1. Create or edit a social post task in the Campaign.

  2. Select an Instagram Business feed post as the destination.

  3. Upload the photos and videos.

  4. Drag and drop the media tiles into the required order.

  5. Save the task and continue with the usual Campaign approval and distribution workflow.

When the task is converted into a social post, PromoRepublic preserves the media order. Videos may continue processing before the post becomes ready to publish.

  • An Instagram carousel can contain up to 10 photos and videos in total.

  • A post with one photo or one video is published as a standard single media post.

  • Animated GIF files are not treated as mixed media videos.

  • Mixed media is not currently available in reusable or administrator templates.

✏️ Edit a Scheduled Mixed Media Post

  1. Open the post from Calendar or List View.

  2. Select Edit.

  3. Add, remove, edit, or reorder the media.

  4. Save the post and check the complete carousel.

If a video was replaced, it may need to process again before the post is ready to publish.

🛠️ Troubleshooting

I cannot add both photos and videos

Confirm that only an Instagram Business feed destination is selected and that the post is not configured for Stories, Reels, or Send to Mobile.

The post is still processing

At least one video or editable photo is still being prepared. The post will not publish until every media item is ready. If processing does not finish, contact PromoRepublic Support and include the location, scheduled time, and post link.

The media order is incorrect

Open the post, arrange the media tiles again by dragging and dropping them, save, and confirm the final order in the preview.

I selected more than one social network

Mixed media is currently available only for the Instagram Business feed. Remove the unsupported destination or customize its media separately when prompted.

My carousel has more than 10 items

Remove media until the carousel contains no more than 10 photos and videos.
