This article will help if your Instagram business page isn't listed in PromoRepublic to connect it or when posts fail to be published due to a permission error. To troubleshoot this, check if all the necessary Meta requirements are met.
βο»Ώ
π΄ Instagram page must be a business account type, not creator.
How to identify what type of account you currently have?
Open the Instagram app on your mobile device.
Click on your avatar picture at the bottom to get to your account (so you see only your posts but not the feed of who you're following).
Click on the triple bar symbol in the top right-hand corner.
In the listed menu select Settings and Privacy.
Tap Business tools and controls. If it is a creator type currently, it will say Creator tools and controls.
Scroll down to the bottom and click Switch Account type.
7. At the bottom you will see two options:
If it is a business type currently, it will say Switch to personal account and Switch to creator account.
If it is a creator type currently, it will say Switch to business account and Switch to personal account.
To convert it to the business type click on the appropriate option.
To demonstrate the steps given above, take a look at the short video attached at the bottom of the article.
[TIP] We strongly advise checking this in the Instagram mobile app but not on the computer because on the desktop version the word 'business' stands for both types.
Once switched, retry connecting the page or reposting a failed post in Promorepublic.
π΄ Instagram page must be linked to a specific Facebook business page where you're an admin.
To get to the settings follow this link or the steps below.
1. Open https://www.facebook.com/ on your computer, and switch to the mode of the necessary page by clicking on the top right-hand corner. Or click on the blue text 'See all profiles' to find the necessary one.
2. Then click Settings and Privacy.
3. Click Settings.
4. On the left side menu find Linked Accounts.
Click on the blue Connect button. Please note further in the process the system will require login credentials to the desired Instagram account.
Once the pages are linked together retry to connect it to PromoRepublic.
π΄ Review connection
In case your two pages are linked together but there is the Review connection button, do as requested. There can be many reasons why Facebook's system was triggered and as a result it requests reviewing the connection between your Instagram page and the Facebook one.
Click on Review connection.
On the next step click Confirm.
On the next step, you'll be asked to allow access to Instagram messages in Inbox, so make sure that the toggle is activated and click Confirm.
Then it it will ask you once again if you confirm the connection by clicking on the appropriate button.
5. By doing that it will either direct you to Insagram site or it will trigger a pop-up where you need log into the desired account.
6. Finally, you should see the success message.
In case it doesn't happen, it will probably give you a reason why the reconnection is not successful. It is important that you study it and work on the fix. Also if you decide to message us with this issue, we'd appreciate a screenshot of it.
Unless the connection is not reviewed, you will not be able to connect the desired Instagram page to PromoReepublic.
A very common reason why you can't review the connection is the lack of admin rights on the Facebook business page that is linked to your Instagram one. If this is your case, please, read the following information.
π΄ You must be an admin on the Facebook business page that is linked to this page.
1. In order to check if you do have full admin rights on the Facebook page, open its settings as guided above or follow this link.
2. On the left side menu tap New Pages Experience.
3. The first thing you should see on the top left menu is Page Access.
There you will see yourself listed there, hopefully. There are 3 ways to get access to a Facebook business page. Most probably, you will see something similar to the picture below.
Click on the person's name and you should see that he/she has full control.
If you got access through a meta account, navigate there and make sure that you have full access. It should say Business Admin.
Clicking on Business Settings it will open the People section where you can see if you have full control.
π΄ If the issue persists, Facebook recommends enabling two-factor authentication as guided here.
Token reset
If you had to apply any of the steps listed above, you would need to reset the Facebook token and, after that, retry connecting the necessary page. You should be able to see your Instagram page listed in the permission pop-up. We strongly advise selecting ALL. Don't worry we will not post there, this is solely to set the proper connection.
If you don't see the page in that pop-up, it means that our system still doesn't detect that you have access to the desired page. By you, we mean your Facebook personal profile.
