Use AI Assistant to Understand Analytics Charts and Widgets

Analytics dashboards help you track performance, but it is not always obvious what a chart means or what action to take from it.

AI Assistant can explain a selected chart, widget, or KPI directly inside PromoRepublic. It gives you a plain-language interpretation of what is on screen, highlights visible trends, and suggests what to review next.

Use this feature when you want to quickly understand a dashboard widget without manually interpreting every metric.

Why use this feature πŸš€

AI Assistant helps teams answer questions such as:

  • What does this chart show?

  • Is performance improving, declining, or staying flat?

  • Which part of the chart needs attention?

  • What should I check next?

  • How does this metric connect to campaign or location performance?

  • How can I explain this chart to a franchisee, location manager, or internal stakeholder?

This is especially useful for multi-location teams that need to review performance across many locations, campaigns, or reporting periods.

Where the feature is available

The feature appears as a small AI icon in the corner of supported dashboard sections, charts, and KPI tiles. Hovering over the icon shows the tooltip "Understand this."

It is available across the analytics dashboards, including:

  • Social Performance β€” overview, content performance, audience, and per-network views

  • Google Business Profile Performance β€” including the searches breakdown

  • Reputation Insights β€” review performance and location insights

  • Local Visibility

  • Campaign Analytics β€” campaign overview, campaign details, KPI strip, and the locations widget

It works on individual KPI tiles as well as full charts β€” not only line or bar charts.

The AI icon appears only when AI Assistant is enabled for the account's plan. Some white-label editions have AI Assistant disabled.

How to use it

  1. Open an analytics dashboard in PromoRepublic.

  2. Find the chart, widget, or KPI you want to understand.

  3. Click the AI icon in its corner (tooltip: "Understand this").

  4. The icon pulses briefly while the widget is being captured.

  5. AI Assistant opens and automatically sends a message on your behalf, such as "Help me understand the Engagement section." You do not need to type anything

  6. Review the explanation in the assistant's reply.

  7. Ask a follow-up question if you need more detail β€” the chart context stays available for the rest of the conversation.

⚠️ Important: the assistant sees a snapshot of the widget exactly as it was displayed when you clicked the icon, including the selected date range and comparison period. If you change filters, locations, or the date range afterwards, click the AI icon again to capture the updated view. Asking the assistant to "look again" in chat will not refresh what it sees.

Example questions you can ask

After the initial explanation, you can ask questions such as:

  • What does this chart show?

  • Why did this metric go up?

  • Why did this metric drop?

  • Is this trend good or bad?

  • What should I check next?

  • Which locations need attention?

  • How should I explain this to a franchisee?

  • What action should the location take?

  • What changed in this period compared with the previous one?

For best results, ask specific questions about the metric, time period, campaign, location, or group you are reviewing. Time-comparison questions work best when the comparison period was visible on the dashboard at capture time.

What the AI explanation includes

AI Assistant typically explains:

What the chart measures β€” the metric or performance area shown.

What trend is visible β€” growth, decline, fluctuation, or flat performance.

Why the trend may matter β€” how it may affect campaign, content, location, or brand performance.

What to check next β€” related data points that can help confirm the reason behind the trend.

Recommended next action β€” practical steps you may want to take based on the visible data.

Example

You are reviewing a views chart and click the AI icon ("Understand this").

AI Assistant may explain:

"This chart shows how views changed during the selected period. The trend increased in the middle of the period and then flattened. This may mean that one campaign, post type, or location group created a short-term lift, but the effect did not continue. Review the top-performing posts and compare them with posting frequency during the same period."

You can then ask:

  • Did all locations improve, or only some of them?

  • What should we repeat in the next campaign?

  • How should I present this to the location owner?

Best practices

βœ… Start with the "Understand this" icon before asking follow-up questions β€” this gives the assistant the chart context.

βœ… Click the icon again after changing filters, locations, or the date range so the assistant sees the updated view.

βœ… Mention the metric you care about, such as views, engagement, reach, reviews, or response rate.

βœ… Ask about specific locations, campaigns, or groups when relevant.

βœ… Use AI Assistant explanations as a starting point, then review the underlying data before making final decisions.

Limitations

❗ The assistant interprets what was visible in the widget at the moment of capture β€” it is a snapshot, not a live connection to the dashboard. Changing filters requires a new capture.

❗ Explanations are based on the displayed values and trends. Drill-downs beyond the visible chart (for example, post-level attribution of a spike) may vary depending on what additional data the assistant can access β€” treat these answers as directional.

❗ AI-generated explanations are intended to support analysis, not replace final judgment. Before making business decisions, always check the source dashboard, filters, selected date range, and underlying data.

Troubleshooting 🦴

I do not see the AI icon on a widget

The feature is available on supported analytics widgets only, and only when AI Assistant is enabled for the account's plan. Some white-label editions have AI Assistant disabled. If AI Assistant is available elsewhere in the product (the assistant icon in the top bar) but a specific widget has no AI icon, that widget is not yet supported.

I see "Could not attach context" / "We could not capture this widget. Please try again."

The widget capture failed β€” usually a temporary issue. Try clicking the icon again. If it persists, check the network connection or try after reloading the page.

Clicking the icon shows a plan-related error

AI Assistant is not active on the current plan. The account needs a plan that includes AI Assistant.

The explanation is too general

Ask a more specific follow-up question. For example:

  • "What changed for this metric in this period compared with the previous one?"

  • "Which locations are driving the decline?"

  • "What should I recommend to low-performing locations?"

The answer does not match what I expected

Check the dashboard filters, selected date range, and metric definition β€” then click the "Understand this" icon again so the assistant captures the corrected view, and re-ask your question.

I need to share the insight with a customer or franchisee

Ask AI Assistant to rephrase the explanation for your audience. For example:

  • "Explain this chart in simple language for a franchisee."

  • "Summarize this insight for an executive update."
