Connect YouTube Channel

Connection Guide and Requirements

Connection Requirements

There are two types of YouTube channels: personal and brand.

  • Personal channel — simply use the credentials of the Google account that owns the channel.

  • Brand channel — you must be an Owner or a Primary Owner.
⚠️ The Manager role is not sufficient.

How to Connect a YouTube Channel

Step 1

Initiate page connection in your Calendar or Location Settings as described here.

Click YouTube on the page selection screen:

Step 2

Proceed with the Google account you're already logged into, select a different account if needed, or proceed with 'Use Another Account'. Next, you'll be prompted to grant all the necessary permissions for channel connection, publishing, and more. Click 'Allow' to proceed:

Step 3

Once YouTube authorization is complete, you'll be directed to a pop-up with the available channels listed.  Select a channel from the dropdown and click Connect. Feel free to use the search bar if needed:

If you have multiple Google accounts that have access to different channels, and the channel you're looking for is not listed, first make sure you are authenticated with the correct Google account that has the appropriate access level for that channel.

Restart the connection, select another Google account, or click Use Another Account:

How Can an Owner Role Be Assigned?

If access to a YouTube channel has been shared with you, you'll need Owner role permissions to connect it to PromoRepublic. In that case, if agreed, the Primary Owner can  assign you the Owner role through the Brand Account.

To do so, the Primary Owner will need to open YouTube Studio and follow these steps:

Step 1

In YouTube Studio, select the channel, navigate to Settings, and select Permissions.

Step 2

A

If the channel is already managed through the Brand Account, you will see a Manage Permissions button as shown below. Click it to be redirected to the Brand Account:

B

If permissions are managed through YouTube Studio, the highest assignable role is Manager. On the Permissions screen, you will be offered to opt out and manage permissions through your Brand Account instead:

⚠️ When opting out, you will see an alert warning you that you will need to manually reassign access to all users who currently have access to the channel.

Once you opt out, you will be redirected to the Brand Account and prompted to authenticate with your Google account.

Step 3

Once authenticated, click Manage Permissions and assign the Owner role to the person you want to share access with:

They will receive an invitation, and once they accept it, they'll be able to connect the desired channel to PromoRepublic.

⚠️ Note: In case of assigning an Owner role to another person, the Primary Owner's role stays unchanged.
