Connecting Your YouTube Channel

To successfully connect the YouTube channel to PromoRepublic, your Google account must be assigned an Owner or Manager role. Viewer or Editor roles are not sufficient to do it.

  1. Navigate to Calendar.

  2. Select YouTube on the left and click Connect.

  3. Authorise your YouTube account by selecting the necessary Google account and granting the necessary permissions.


Creating YouTube Posts

After connecting your YouTube channel, you can start creating posts, including Shorts, using the post form. Please note that 4 mandatory fields must be filled out:

  • Title (Text input)

  • Category (Drop-down selection)

  • Visibility (Drop-down selection)

  • License (Drop-down selection)

Below these fields, you will find checkboxes to:

  • Notify Subscribers (Enabled by default)

  • Allow Embedding (Enabled by default)

  • Mark, if it's made for kids

📝 Creative Commons License

Meaning: You allow others to reuse your video freely under certain conditions.

Common terms: They must give you credit. And that your video can be reused or remixed, even commercially, depending on the exact license type.

Used for: Encouraging sharing and remixing of your content.

Appears as: “Creative Commons Attribution license (reuse allowed)”

📝 YouTube Standard License

Meaning: You (and YouTube) retain full rights; others cannot legally reuse your video without permission.

Default setting for uploaded videos.

No reuse allowed without contacting the copyright holder.

Creating YouTube Shorts

YouTube Shorts are quick, vertical videos (60 seconds or less). Here's how to manage them in PromoRepublic:

1. Technical specifications

  • Duration must be 60 seconds or less. Videos longer than 60 seconds or in horizontal format will be treated as regular videos.

  • Aspect Ratio must have a vertical aspect ratio (9:16 or 1:1).

  • Resolution must be 720p or 1080p

☝️ Mind the validation message. If the video doesn't meet the requirements, you'll see this message: "To be displayed as a YouTube Short, videos must be 60 seconds or less and have an aspect ratio of 1:1 or 9:16"

2. Add content

  • Valid thumbnails and descriptions enhance your Shorts' visibility and engagement, so feel free to include descriptions with links, hashtags, mentions, or dynamic fields.

  • Add a custom thumbnail or choose one from the video. Please note that custom thumbnail selection might not work if your YouTube account's phone number is not verified. To enable custom thumbnails, please ensure your account is verified. Learn more about YouTube account verification.

☝️ There is a posting limitation per day for verified and unverified channels:

  • Unverified - Up to 10 videos per 24 hours

  • Verified - Up to 15 videos per 24 hours

Troubleshooting Issues

If you encounter issues, here are some common problems and solutions.

Unable to Connect YouTube Channel

☝️ Problem: Connection fails or doesn’t authenticate.

👉 Solution:

  • Ensure you have admin access to the YouTube account.

  • Check your browser pop-up settings to ensure the authorisation window is not blocked.

Error Messages on Posting

☝️ Problem: "The Title/Category/Visibility/License field is required" error appears.

👉 Solution:

  • Double-check that all mandatory fields are completed.

  • Ensure the video complies with YouTube's Shorts or standard video requirements.

Video Not Recognised as a Short

☝️ Problem: The uploaded video isn’t displayed as a YouTube Short.

👉 Solution:

  • Verify the video length (60 seconds or less) and aspect ratio (9:16 or 1:1).

  • Horizontal or longer videos are automatically treated as regular YouTube uploads.

YouTube Analytics

In the Analytics dashboard, you can find 3 new sections to help track your YouTube Channel performance:

  1. Overview – Total audience, impressions, engagement (reactions, comments, shares), and trends over time.

  2. Content Analytics – Publishing activity, content types, and performance insights (views, engagement)

  3. Audience Analytics – Breakdown by country and city
