Understanding Facebook's Policy

🔴 Please note that Facebook does not allow personal profiles to be connected to third-party services like PromoRepublic. Your personal profile is strictly for representing yourself according to Facebook’s Terms of Service. But your profile is needed for internal connection. Read on to learn more.

☝️ As of July 1st, 2021, you cannot convert a personal profile into a business page. You need to create a new business page from scratch following the instructions on the Facebook Help Center.

🔴 Instead, to PromoRepublic, you can connect a business page or a group where you have full access level (admin rights).

Important Connection Details

  • Profile Permissions

    • ☝️ When connecting a Facebook or Instagram business page to PromoRepublic, your Facebook personal profile must be an admin there. This profile provides the necessary permissions, known as a token.

  • Single Association

    • A specific Facebook profile gets associated with your PromoRepublic account as a source of permission for us to be able to post on your business pages. ☝️ You cannot associate one PromoRepublic account with multiple Facebook profiles.

    • Similarly, you cannot attach one Facebook personal profile to multiple PromoRepublic accounts. If you attempt this, you might see a pop-up message indicating an existing attachment. In such cases, follow the guide on how to reset a Facebook token here.

Automated Posting vs Manual

1. Posting to Business Pages

We provide automated posting to Facebook business pages that you manage (where you have full access). In order to start posting there, you need to connect it first.

  1. Having clicked Connect will trigger a permission pop-up window asking you to allow SocialPost to access your Facebook account information. Basically, this is the moment of setting up a token that may expire occasionally.

    Click Continue as [your Facebook profile name].

    At this moment, our system will detect the personal profile in which you are authorized at www.facebook.com. Or it will prompt you to log into your Facebook account if you are not authorized there at the moment of connection.

    🔴 At this particular moment, it is essential to ensure that you are logged into the correct personal profile that is assigned the admin role on the desired business pages, so please pay attention.

  2. If you wish to click on 'Edit access', you'll see a list of pages that you manage and the list of permissions that you allow us. It is essential that you leave all the toggles activated (as they are by default) as this may affect the whole connection.

    ☝️ In other words, at this stage, we'll show you the pages on which our system has detected you as an admin. If, at this stage, there isn't a particular business page you're looking to connect, it means that you most probably don't have full admin rights on the desired page.

  3. You'll be re-directed to PeomoRepublic's view where you can see the necessary page. Feel free to use the search box if needed. And finally click Connect. 

  4. And that's it! Your page is successfully connected. To connect a second one, the pop-up will not emerge again, and this time, you'll see the drop-down menu right away. It is not possible to connect pages in bulk, but one by one.

2. Posting to Groups

We don't provide automated posting to groups as Facebook's API limits it. To share content in a Facebook Group, download and use the PromoRepublic mobile app. This app facilitates a semi-automatic posting method for groups where you have permission to post. You can publish posts in any group where you're a member or an administrator.

In order to post to a Facebook group with PromoRepublic, you need to connect it first.

  1. Navigate to the Calendar section on our platform and select the option to connect a Facebook Group.

  2. Locate the link to your Facebook Group and copy it. This can be found in the URL box at the top of the www.facebook.com page.

  3. In the connection interface on our platform, enter the link in the designated field and hit ‘Connect.’ Depending on the group's privacy and visibility settings, the link may appear as the group name or a direct URL.

  4. Once the group is connected, feel free to schedule a post there. When it is time to publish it, open the PromoRepublic app on your phone, navigate to the On Hold section in the calendar and find the post.

  5. To start the posting, click on the Publish button.

  6. Open the Facebook app in the suggested list of apps on your phone.

  7. Paste the post's text that you prepared before and click Next.

  8. Select the necessary group and click Share at the top right corner. Only after clicking Share will the post be actually published. If you abort the process earlier, the post will be marked as published on our platform, even if it is not because our app can't trace your steps in the Facebook app.
