Connecting Claude or ChatGPT to PromoRepublic

PromoRepublic supports direct integration with Claude (Anthropic) and ChatGPT (OpenAI) through MCP — Model Context Protocol. This lets you ask questions about your franchise network from inside Claude or ChatGPT, with answers coming from your live PromoRepublic data.

The integration is optional. If you use the AI Assistant inside PromoRepublic, you're already using the same underlying capability. The Claude and ChatGPT connections are for teams who spend most of their day in those tools and want to avoid switching contexts — or who want to build automated workflows that go beyond what the in-platform assistant supports.

What MCP is

MCP is a standardized protocol that lets AI assistants connect to external data sources. PromoRepublic exposes a set of data tools through MCP — the same tools that power the AI Assistant inside the platform. When Claude or ChatGPT connects to PromoRepublic via MCP, they call those tools directly in response to your questions.

From your perspective, the experience is the same as using the AI Assistant in PromoRepublic. You ask a question, the model calls the right tool, and you get an answer based on your live data. The difference is that you're working inside Claude or ChatGPT, which means you can combine PromoRepublic data with your own documents, other integrations, and automation logic in ways that aren't possible inside the platform itself.

Connecting Claude

Claude supports MCP connections natively in Claude.ai (Pro and Team plans) and in the Claude desktop application.

To connect PromoRepublic to Claude:

  1. Open Claude and go to Settings → Connectors → Customize (or the MCP / Tools section, depending on your version).

  2. Add a custom connector.

  3. Enter the PromoRepublic MCP server URL provided by your Customer Success Manager.

  4. Authenticate with your PromoRepublic account when prompted.

  5. The PromoRepublic tools will appear as available tools in your Claude session.

Once connected, you ask questions in Claude exactly as you would in the PromoRepublic AI Assistant. Claude will call the relevant PromoRepublic tools automatically based on your question.

Note: The MCP server URL and authentication credentials are specific to your PromoRepublic account. Contact your Customer Success Manager to get them.

Connecting ChatGPT

ChatGPT supports external tool connections through the Custom GPT Actions framework, and through direct MCP support available to Pro users.

For ChatGPT with native MCP support:

  1. Go to Settings → Apps → Advanced Settings in ChatGPT.

  2. Add a custom app under developer mode.

  3. Enter the PromoRepublic MCP server URL provided by your Customer Success Manager.

  4. Save the GPT. It will now have access to your PromoRepublic data.

What works through Claude and ChatGPT

All the same data capabilities available in the PromoRepublic AI Assistant are available through Claude and ChatGPT, including social performance across all networks (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, TikTok, YouTube), publishing activity, reputation and reviews, GBP, local rankings, and inbox conversations.

Creating posts and drafting review responses also works — the assistant submits them to your PromoRepublic Proposals queue exactly as it would if you'd asked inside the platform.

Permissions

The MCP connection uses your PromoRepublic account credentials. The data you can access through Claude or ChatGPT is the same data you can access when logged in to PromoRepublic — no more, no less.

Security

The PromoRepublic MCP server communicates over HTTPS. Authentication uses OAuth 2.0. No data is stored by the MCP server between requests — each question results in a fresh read from your account.

Your conversation history inside Claude or ChatGPT is subject to those platforms' own privacy policies. PromoRepublic does not have visibility into your Claude or ChatGPT conversation history.
