Understanding Metric Differences

This article is about the differences between the metrics found in PromoRepublic reports and those generated directly on social media platforms, such as Facebook and Instagram. We understand that sometimes these differences can be confusing, so we are here to clarify them for you.

Why are there differences in metrics?

Before we dive into the specific differences, it's important to understand why these discrepancies exist. The main reason is that PromoRepublic and social media platforms use different algorithms to calculate metrics. This means that the numbers may not always match up exactly.

Let's take a closer look at the specific differences you may notice between PromoRepublic reports and social media platform reports.

Impressions

Impressions refer to the number of times your post has been seen by users. On social media platforms, this number may include multiple views from the same user. However, PromoRepublic only counts unique views, meaning that the number may be lower.

Reach

Reach is the number of unique users who have seen your post. Similar to impressions, social media platforms may count multiple views from the same user, while PromoRepublic only counts unique views.

Engagement

Engagement refers to the number of interactions with your post, such as likes, comments, and shares. Social media platforms may include clicks on your post in this number, while PromoRepublic does not.

Pages on the New Page Experience (NPE) won’t see organic vs. paid breakdowns for Audience and Impressions in the Facebook Insights Report.

Statistics for Facebook Pages

Facebook Insights Report

NPE reporting in the Facebook Insights Report counts all Reactions as Likes. PromoRepublic's Post Performance Report counts Likes and all other Reactions (Haha, Wow, etc.) in the Reactions metric.

In the Page Reporting sections, you can see all other Reactions (Haha, Wow, etc.) under the Reactions metric.

Ad Insights (Campaigns tab)

Facebook Ads Manager Export

Conversions and Costs per Metrics in PromoRepublic and Web Purchases and Cost per Metrics in Ads Manager are calculated differently. You may see more Web Conversions in PromoRepublic because the metric is calculated as the total number of events or conversions driven by campaigns. Cost per Metrics In PromoRepublic is calculated as Cost per period of time divided on metrics while Facebook takes total cost by N date divided on metrics.

Statistics for Instagram

Facebook Insights Report (Instagram tab)

Facebook Insights Report shows Instagram Reels Plays and Impressions that include shares as a Facebook Reel. PromoRepublic Reports only show Video Views and Impressions from Instagram.

Note: More reels metrics are offered in export. Available only for users with Digital Asset Management.

We understand that seeing different numbers can be confusing, but we want to assure you that PromoRepublic's metrics are accurate and reliable. Our algorithms are constantly updated to provide you with the most accurate data possible.
