In this article, we will list the requirements to be used in PromoRepublic.

Images

When uploading an image to the Editor or a post from scratch, make sure they are

  • .jpeg

  • .jpg

  • .png

When uploading an animated picture (a gif), convert it to .mp4 because the gif format is not allowed.

Videos

These are the video formats to be used in PromoRepublic:

  • .webm

  • .3g2

  • .3gp

  • .3gpp 

  • .asf

  • .avi 

  • .dat

  • .divx

  • .dv

  • .f4v

  • .flv

  • .m2ts

  • .m4v

  • .mkv

  • .mod

  • .mov

  • .mp4

  • .mpe

  • .mpeg

  • .mpeg4

  • .mpg

  • .mts

  • .nsv

  • .ogm

  • .ogv

  • .qt

  • .tod

  • .ts

  • .vob

  • .wmv

The maximum file size is 15 MB for images and gifs and 500 MB for videos.

In 99% of cases, problems with posting videos from social media are related to inappropriate video parameters.

The most common parameters that have problems:

  1. Duration

  2. Video bitrate

  3. Aspect ratio

Instagram Business

Below are the technical requirements for images, videos, and post captions that you want to publish through PromoRepublic to Instagram business pages. Posts that don't meet these technical specifics won't be published and will be marked red in the Calendar.

Caption: Maximum 2200 characters, 30 #hashtags, and 20 @tags (mentions).

Photo:

  • Maximum file size: 8MB

  • Aspect ratio: Must be within a 4:5 to 1.91:1 range

  • Minimum width: 320 (will be scaled up to the minimum if necessary)

  • Maximum width: 1440 (will be scaled down to the maximum if necessary)

  • Height: Varies, depending on width and aspect ratio

  • Formats: JPEG

Video:

  • Container: MOV or MP4 (MPEG-4 Part 14), no edit lists, moov atom at the front of the file.

  • Audio codec: AAC, 48khz sample rate maximum, 1 or 2 channels (mono or stereo).

  • Video codec: HEVC or H264, progressive scan, closed GOP, 4:2:0 chroma subsampling.

  • Frame rate: 23-60 FPS.

  • Picture size:

  • Maximum columns (horizontal pixels): 1920

  • Minimum aspect ratio [cols / rows]: 4 / 5

  • Maximum aspect ratio [cols / rows]: 16 / 9

  • Video bitrate: VBR, 5Mbps maximum

  • Audio bitrate: 128kbps

  • Duration: 60 seconds maximum, 3 seconds minimum

  • File size: 100MB maximum

LinkedIn

In LinkedIn videos will be auto-played natively in the feed as shown on the screenshot below on condition that the video meets all the requirements listed below:

  • Minimum video length: 3 seconds

  • Maximum video length: 10 minutes

  • Minimum file size: 75KB

  • Maximum file size: 5 GB

  • Orientation: Horizontal or vertical. Note: Vertical videos are cropped into a square in the feed.

  • Aspect ratio: 1:2.4 or 2.4:1

  • Resolution range: 256×144 to 4096×2304

  • Frame rates: 10 – 60 frames per second

  • Bit rates: 192 kbps – 30 Mbps

  • File formats: ASF, AVI, FLV, MPEG-1, MPEG-4, MKV, QuickTime, WebM, H264/AVC, MP4, VP8, VP9, WMV2, and WMV3.

  • Formats that are not supported include ProRes, MPEG-2, Raw Video, VP6, WMV1as.

Google Business Profile

When posting from your Google Business Profile dashboard, the best image size for a Google Profile post has a 4:3 image ratio. In the dimensions below, the first number is the width, and the second number is the height. (All measurements are in pixels, not inches.)

  • Default Size – 720 x 540

  • Maximum Size – 2120 x 1192

  • Minimum Size – 250 x 250

  • Aspect Ratio – 4:3

File sizes and types for Google Business Profile posts:

  • Minimum File Size – 10kb

  • Maximum File Size – 5mb

  • File Type – JPG, PNG, BMP

The Video Size Limits of Google Business Profile:

  • Duration: Up to 30 seconds long

  • File size: Up to 75 MB

  • Resolution: 720p or higher
