LinkedIn Connection and Posting

Add a link to the LinkedIn post

Updated this week

How to connect a LinkedIn page or profile

In PromoRepublic, you can connect personal profiles and company pages. We don't support posting to LinkedIn groups.

  • You can connect several LinkedIn personal profiles to one PromoRepublic account as long as you have login credentials.

  • To connect company pages, you must have a Super Admin role there. The Content Admin role will suffice to post there through our platform. Although we suggest having the first one because LinkedIn token expires regularly, so pages must be reconnected, and to do that, you need the Super Admin access level.

Upon clicking the LinkedIn box, it will bring up a permission window where you need to grant SocialPost access to post on your behalf.

Next, feel free to select the necessary page in the drop-down box. Use the search bar if you have many. To connect the second page or profile, repeat the actions.

How to create a LinkedIn post

  • There are several ways how you can create a LinkedIn post in PromoRepublic. The easiest way is to pick a template from the Post Ideas library that is full of ready-to-go posts and photo stock images.

  • To use your own photos and videos, start with the Create Post or New Post button in the Calendar.

  • It'll open up the post editor form, where you can upload your own content, create it from scratch in the Graphics Editor or import from Canva.

  • When the content is ready, decide if you want to publish it right away, schedule it or add to queue. Head over to this article to learn more about this.

  • In case you intended to schedule it for several pages and you forgot to pick a certain one, you can easily duplicate this post.

Here are the recommended LinkedIn image sizes for regular posts:

  1. Square image

    • Size: 1200 x 1200 px

    • Aspect Ratio: 1:1

    • Best for: General posts; displays well on both desktop and mobile.

  2. Portrait (vertical) image

    • Size: 1080 x 1350 px

    • Best for: Mobile-first visual content. Supported and now renders well on LinkedIn.

  3. Horizontal (landscape) image

    • Size: 1200 x 627 px

How to add links to LinkedIn posts

Do you want to lead traffic from your social media directly to your business website? It's easy! Just add a link to the post.  Once you insert a link in the text box, the website description and thumbnail will auto-populate.

Once published, the post's image will be hyperlinked, tapping it will direct you to the website which URL you've used.

  • 👉 If you would like to change the thumbnail picture, it's easy! But note that clicking on your own visual will not take you to the link's destination. If it's ok with you, delete the preview, tweak the text, and upload your image or create one in the Editor.

  • Once published, the URL text will be automatically shortened and changed.

  • Clicking on the visual will expand it to a larger view, so in order to get to the link's destination, you should hit the link itself.

LinkedIn Best Practices

Many marketers and brand owners choose LinkedIn as a key channel for growing their business. Built specifically for professionals, LinkedIn offers powerful opportunities to build credibility, reach decision-makers, and strengthen your brand presence.

That said, not everyone takes full advantage of what a LinkedIn Company Page can offer. To help you get more value from your efforts, we’ve put together this guide with practical tips and best practices for improving your LinkedIn presence and publishing more effective content.

LinkedIn's algorithm prioritises valuable, relevant, and timely content over generic promotional posts, so it’s important engage with the audience strategically.

1. Create Valuable Professional Content Focusing on Authenticity

Why: builds credibility

✅ Focus on insights, lessons learned, industry trends, case studies, or actionable advice. This type of content helps the audience do their job better. For example, “5 lessons from launching our product in Q4” or “Industry trend I saw yesterday and what it means”.

✅ LinkedIn audiences respond best to genuine experiences and unique perspectives, not generic buzzwords or tactics aimed only to “boost engagement.”

✅ Share real stories or practical reflections instead of overused templates.

❌ Avoid overly promotional language like “Buy now!” because LinkedIn favours professional and educational content.

2. Use Hashtags Strategically

Why: Increases discoverability

✅ Include 3-5 relevant hashtags to help LinkedIn understand your topic and connect your content to broader conversations.

✅ Use a mix of general (#Marketing) and niche hashtags (#SaaSMarketing) for better targeting.

3. Use Visuals That Add Value Why: LinkedIn algorithm prefers them

✅ Posts with images, infographics, or native videos typically attract more attention than text-only posts.

✅ Avoid low-quality stock photos because original visuals or branded graphics perform best.

✅ For videos, upload native video files rather than YouTube/Vimeo links because the algorithm favors native content.

✅ Keep videos concise; content under ~3 minutes often sees higher engagement.

✅ Add captions/subtitles because many users watch without sound.

4. Post with Consistency

Why: Boosts visibility over time

✅ Aim to post 2–3 times per week if you’re starting out. Consistent posting builds visibility and authority.

❌ Too many posts per day can overwhelm followers; quality > quantity.

5. Publish at Strategic Times

Why: Helps reach users when active

✅ Generally, mid-week mornings (Tuesday-Thursday, 8 AM-12 PM) perform best for visibility and engagement.

✅ Use your own insights (from Post Analytics) to learn when your audience is most active and adjust your schedule accordingly.

6. Structure Posts for Readability

Why: Keeps the audience’s attention

✅ Start with a strong hook or headline because the first line determines whether someone clicks “see more”.

✅ Use short paragraphs, line breaks, and bullets where possible; this way, posts are easier to scan and read.

✅ A thoughtful call-to-action (CTA) can encourage engagement without sounding like “engagement bait.” For example, “What are your thoughts?” or “Share your experience”.
